Lots of changes

Jaden has been home from school for several weeks. On the Friday before spring break, a friend overheard both the teacher and the aide making inappropriate comments to Jaden. I went to the school to meet with the teacher and the principal and decided to move Jaden to a different classroom. Since all of the special needs preschool classes in the whole county are full, there was nowhere for her to go. I decided to keep her home rather than return her to class. We have another IEP meeting soon--to go over summer school placement and the 2007-08 school year. I am praying that Jaden is placed in the appropriate classroom so that I don't have to fight again. I am weary of fighting for services that should just be available to disabled children. However, I will do whatever it takes to get Jaden where she needs to be.
I was a bit worried about Jaden being home full-time. She does very well with structure and routine, which is difficult at home. She also gets bored easily and needs quite a bit of physical care. She is loud. She gets frustrated easily. I didn't want to give up my prayer time or my exercise time. But things have been wonderful! Jaden is doing so well. She is happy, learning, growing and not as difficult as I imagined. I have really enjoyed spending more time with her.
Jaden restarted chelation therapy on April 10th. She finished one round (three days) and did ok. No negatives in her behavior or physically. Then the 2nd round began on the 24th of April. Three more days. On the third day, Jaden's poops got ugly. I persevered through the day, and now she is on a break between rounds. She cleared up pretty quickly and has been better ever since. I am so glad I persevered this time. (The last time we tried chelation, we needed to quit since she got diareah that wouldn't clear until we stopped) This past time, her poops were not quite so bad so that is why I decided to continue on. Since starting chelation, I noticed my notes about Jaden include some great things that she is doing! Her therapists are also raving about her language improvement, and how happy she is. Here are some of the things I have noticed:
*Jaden likes to play with everyone pretty consistently. She laughs. She runs. She says, 'oh, no!'
*She 'reads' her books.
*her questions sound like questions instead of statements. Ex: "Juice?" instead of "juice"
*She said "calcium" and "zinc" today. (and got them right!)
*Saying the ABC's
*tons of singing
*understanding us: Ex: "Your cup is on the counter in the kitchen. Go get it" "When you are done with that, you can have it" "Go see if Lance can help you"
*constant imitation. There was a time when we couldn't get her to imitate *anything*.
