The photo
Jaden Grace was just sitting on my lap and listening to the music on her blog. She saw the photo of her with her head in her hands and said, "I was thinking". Then she noticed she was in the car. I noticed her chapped lips. She gets chapped frequently and we haven't been able to figure out why. But once a tiny piece of skin comes up, she gets too focused on picking and picking and picking until her lips look like they do in the photo--ground meat! I started giving her Inositol several months ago to help with OCD behaviors and she is now up to 3 grams in the morning and 3 at dinnertime. It does seem to help--her lips get chapped but she only picks for a few minutes versus all afternoon. :o) I know some only put up the best photos but I want this blog to be about reality--the daily living of one with autism. It's the hardest job I have ever had. Even though my girl looks like most children in many ways, her behaviors are very different and overwhelming. I do believe that autism is treatable but it's not an overnight miracle going on around here. It's a walk through the forest, thick with brush, fallen trees and huge spiders. Tons of mosquitoes. ;o) We are only about half way through the forest. Prayer for endurance is appreciated. And an offer to keep my girl for two hours so I can nap and cry out to the LORD would be the best gift ever.
