Kisses

JadenGrace has recently started giving me kisses. I think it has been several weeks but am not sure because at first I didn't know they were kisses! She would rest her lips on my head or cheek or even my nose and just stay still for a minute. After a while, I decided that those were kisses! and began to tell her so. I always make a big deal when she does it--I say "awwww, thank you, JadenGrace! Love!" Or I give her tender kisses on her cheek and whisper in her ear, "This is love"
Some people say autistic children are not capable of loving others. I know JadenGrace loves me. She might not be able to say so, or show it all the time in the way others do, but she does in her way. I so look forward to the day she can say the words: "I love you, Mama"
