It has been a long time since I updated on JadenGrace.
Today is Christmas day. Reg just made bacon and eggs and the children are chatting in the living room, planning our shopping day tomorrow. We didn't get up as early as in past years, as the olders would rather sleep and Jaden doesn't do well if she gets woken before she is ready...so it was about 9:15 am when the girls came out asking me to put coffee on for Daddy so we could open some gifts. It has been a good, relaxing morning so far. I was dreading Christmas this year. I forgot to do many things that have become traditions for us. But it has turned out to be a good thing after all. A sad note is that Jaden doesn't care anything about presents. She just had a few, and the other children helped her open them and tried to get her excited about them. But she hardly looked and began to fuss as if we were asking her to sit still for a haircut or something. Most of the photos I got were her with a frown on her face. On a positive note, she does love the Christmas tree and can't believe she has a tree in our house! 'Tree' is one of the rare words that she hasn't lost, and so she says it often when she looks at it.
Jaden has shown noticeable improvement on the Methyl-B12 shots. Her eye contact is getting much better, her joint attention is exploding, and she is babbling more and more. She is happier most of the day now, where before she was mad most of the day....she is more active--climbing on things and playing more...trying to get Lance to wrestle with her....
We took her to Denise's last night and she was bearable at another home! That, my friends, is a miracle! Just a month ago, at Thanksgiving, she was so much work that I couldn't sit down for a minute, or have one conversation with someone unless she was on my hip. (which she didn't want to be for long!) So I am praising GOD for these glimpses of improvement in my baby girl.
Remember, autism is treatable!
