I meant to say before now: the cloth diaper vacation wasn't worth it! I used all 40 diapers in 4 days because Jaden was fighting a yeast rash. They were crinkly and hard and stiff and ....well, I just love colorful, soft Fuzzi's better. So was glad to get back to them...
Happily washing a load right now :O)
One of the things we are using with Jaden to help her communicate is a picture system called PECS. (Picture exchange communication system) (you can learn more about how it works here: http://www.polyxo.com/visualsupport/pecs.html
A quick description is that Jaden learns to choose a photo of the thing she wants or needs off of a board--a thing like her sippy cup or a favorite toy--and hand it to someone who then gets the item for her. We have been working on this for weeks, to encourage her to pull the photo off, and after she got that part, to then hand it to us. We have the item behind us, to reward her immediately.
But yesterday and today, she seemed to really take off in this...she has been searching for her board and eagerly pulling off the photo and handing it to me...She is such a smarty!...

I just found your blog thru Janne's ~ she seems to be the hub of all blogs, LOL! Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi ... I didn't realize Jaden was autistic, when was she diagnosed with autism? How old is she now? I feel like I've been away so long ... I'm delighted to hear about the great steps she's taking, with the PECS and the previous entry about saying "no" and pointing while saying trees. Praying she continues to do well and grow and blossom!
